Ingredients
For the Crispy Ravioli
- 1 package refrigerated cheese ravioli, about 20 ounces.
- 2 large eggs.
- 2 tablespoons milk.
- 1 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs.
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning.
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder.
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
- Olive oil cooking spray.
- Fresh parsley or basil, chopped, for serving.
- Extra grated Parmesan, for serving.
- 1 cup warm marinara sauce, for dipping.
Directions
1. Prep the ravioli.
Remove the ravioli from the refrigerator while you prepare the breading station. Pat them dry with a paper towel if there is any excess moisture on the surface.
2. Make the egg mixture.
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
3. Make the Parmesan coating.
In a second shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
4. Bread the ravioli.
Dip each ravioli into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Press it into the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture, turning to coat both sides completely.
5. Prep the air fryer.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Place an air fryer liner in the basket according to its directions. Arrange the breaded ravioli in a single layer, leaving a little space between each piece. Lightly mist the tops with olive oil cooking spray.
6. Air fry until crispy.
Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, carefully turning halfway through, until the ravioli are golden brown and crispy. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches.
7. Add the finishing touches.
Transfer the crispy ravioli to a serving platter while they're still hot. Sprinkle with extra Parmesan and chopped fresh parsley or basil.
8. Serve.
Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
Tips
Refrigerated ravioli works best for this recipe because it's already tender and cooks quickly. There's no need to boil it before breading.
Press the breadcrumb mixture firmly onto each ravioli so you get plenty of crispy Parmesan coating in every bite.
Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Air needs to circulate around each ravioli to create that crunchy, toasted exterior.
Want to change things up? Try spinach and ricotta, four-cheese, or even mushroom ravioli. You can also add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture for a little heat.
For an extra-cheesy finish, sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan over the ravioli the second they come out of the air fryer.
Phantom Tip: Line your basket with Phantom Chef Air Fryer Liners to help catch loose breadcrumbs and melted Parmesan while keeping cleanup simple. Then pile the ravioli onto a serving platter with marinara in the center for an easy appetizer that was made for sharing.
